Cardistry-Con 2025 set to be held in New York City

The 11th annual Cardistry-Con is scheduled to take place in New York in 2025, marking a major return to the U.S. after the memorable CC24 in Tokyo. While specific dates have yet to be announced, organizers have stated that registration will open early this year. Spots are expected to sell out quickly, as has been the case in previous years.

Cardistry-Con is a three-day annual global gathering, produced and organized by well-known figures in the cardistry community: Dan and Dave Buck, Tobias Levin, and Oliver Sogard. Cardists from around the world participate to celebrate their art and learn from each other. One participant in the past even traveled 40 hours and over 18,000 km to attend. Many call it the “best weekend of the year.” Featured in magazines like Wired and Vanity Fair, the convention has played a major role in bringing cardistry into mainstream awareness. Starting in 2014 as a 90-minute session at Magic-Con in San Diego, it has become the most anticipated event in the field. Past gatherings have been held in Brooklyn, Berlin, Los Angeles, Hong Kong, Portland, San Diego, London, and Tokyo. Some of the industry’s biggest names sponsor the event each year.

Over the three days, participants receive a daily schedule outlining all planned activities. Swag bags are distributed to attendees upon arrival, and a sales booth offers apparel. A special limited edition deck is released each year to commemorate the occasion. The CC24 Official Deck was printed with an air-cushion finish on thin-crush stock, with only 2,500 copies produced by the official sponsor USPCC. Many traditions take place, including a mix of workshops, competitions, panels, live performances, tutorial bundles, and other opportunities for cardists to connect and learn. Non-cardistry activities are also part of the experience, such as the annual CC 5K run, which was held in Yoyogi Park last year. At the end of it all, an after-party full of fun and celebration awaits the cardists.

Another highlight is the Cardistry-Con Film Festival (CCFF), a competition where winners are chosen based on the “artistic wholeness” of their videos—including the quality of moves, presentation, and cinematography. The prize for CCFF24 included a trophy, bricks of premium playing cards, and a ticket to CC25. Among the finalists—Nathan Wu, Pla, Parker Mitchell, and Andrej Ti—Nathan Wu won with his submission, Solitaire.

The upcoming CC25 is sure to continue these traditions and may even introduce new ones. As the community awaits further details, this year’s convention is expected to be one of the biggest and most exciting yet.
